All the adventure, none of
the cold
Looking for a place to take out of town guest? Or maybe visiting
Alaska yourself? The Bear and Raven Adventure Theater in Anchorage
, Alaska is designed to be an interactive 60-minute total experience.
Their 30-minute movie takes you on a journey into Alaska’s
rarely seen back country to experience the Iditarod Trail that
takes you from the modern city of Anchorage to the villages and
hamlets of a by-gone era. Revel in the celebration of surviving
one of the world’s greatest races which teams man and dog
vs. the arctic wilderness.
Not only will you see and hear the
sights and sounds of the Iditarod Trail, but you will feel them
too as snow falls from the sky and the stars twinkle and Aurora
Borealis shimmers above you. In the few minutes before or after
the show, you can take the opportunity to mush behind nine sleddogs,
your very own dog sled, catch an Alaskan King salmon, and admire
Alaskan scenery from a hot air balloon on our various interactive
displays.

Big
Game Wildlife Center
Photograph until your hearts content with this
natural, up close viewing of Alaska's wildlife. Located on 140
acres of natural Alaska wilderness, just 30 minutes from downtown
Anchorage, Big
Game Alaska Wildlife Center opened to the public in 1993.
On the shores of Turnagain
Arm, surrounded by mountains and hanging glaciers, this is the
perfect place to learn about Alaska wildlife. Drive through in
the comfort of your own vehicle or walk through to photograph
and learn about the animals, the park and the history of the Portage
Valley area. The owner raised buffalo and elk as a hobby since
1984, and wildlife officials began putting orphaned moose in his
care. Eventually his hobby transformed into the Wildlife Center
that you see today.Injured or orphaned animals are regularly brought
to the Wildlife Center for care. Adonis the Bald Eagle, was brought
to us after suffering a gunshot wound. His wing was so severely
damaged it had to be completely removed. The Great Horned owls,
Hooty and Snappy, are also victims of gunshot wounds and now live
at the Wildlife Center. Big Game Alaska often provides care and
housing for non-releasable birds. Learn more Click
